In the credits section of the About GNOWSYS of the application, I’ve listed all the names who helped me technically in the development of gnowser. Apart from all those people, I sincerely thank Mr. Prasanta Baruah to help me get into gsoc.

gnome-gnowser
GNOWSYS, a networking distributed database; for me the first Free Software project I got associated with. Read more about GNOWSYS here. I’ve been associated with GNOWSYS for last two years. This year I got to participate and selected for Google Summer of Code 2008, under GNU Project as organization mentored by Nagarjuna Gadiraju.
Under gsoc 2008, I developed an application “gnome-gnowser”, a desktop tool for the graphical representation of GNOWSYS knowledge network. Here the network at any level is represnted in the form of mind maps and the hyperlinked nodes i.e nodes with hotspot feature, facilitates to morph through the entire network. So it is more than just graphical representation, an approach to playfully dive into the GNOWSYS hub. Best part of it is that you never come to a dead end, all courtesy to GNOWSYS network model. So in one line, gnome-gnowser is a GNOWSYS bowser.
Obviously its the graphics of the gnowser, which adds all the charm and simplicity to the application but its much more than that. Using the gnome-gnowser, you can do everything possible from a web portal. Like register, login & start adding to the knowledge hub. Obviously to work and use it properly, you have got to be a little familiar with OOPs gotchas because GNOWSYS is an Object Oriented network model. Don’t worry even if you dont know much of OOPs concept, its very simple to work around and play with gnowser. Consider classes as Objecttype & object as object in GNOWSYS, as simple as that . So just go on authoring and organizing your own data using gnowser.
Ok thats all about graphics & authoring, one more outsanding feature of gnome-gnowser is the jabber support. Yes, you can use it as a jabber client. The very purpose of bringing in the jabber client into gnowser is to make the application a collaborative tool. You can configure it to work with any of your accounts as it has got multiple accounts support. Actually altogeter its a complete independent application “gajim” which has been brought into the gnowser with few little modification. Read all the features provided in this jabber client here. So its Gajim at the core and beauty and simplicity of the application is just awesome. To feel it, you have got to use it

Enough boosting of gnowser features, but believe me playing with gnome-gnowser is much more fun than writting or reading about it. So download gnowser from here (but unfortunately thats not the up to date code base). So check out from CVS to stay tuned with latest features and updates.
